Project Description:
Sexual and gender based violence (SGBV) is often exacerbated during humanitarian crises when the stability of the society is disrupted and the population is most vulnerable. Refugees are at an even greater risk as they lack the protection of their government and may have limited rights in their host countries. SGBV has become a growing concern among the Syrian refugee community in Egypt and a priority for humanitarian actors.
CARE Egypt has been selected by UNHCR to implement a project addressing Gender Based Violence against Syrian refugees. CARE Egypt proposes a holistic approach to addressing the problem of sexual and gender based violence among the Syrian refugees. Through a combination of rights-based, survivor centered, and community development approaches, this project seeks to raise awareness on the issue of SGBV, enhance protection for individuals at risk, and support survivors who have faced violence, exploitation, and abuse. This project is targeting Syrian in Cairo (Oboor, 10th of Ramadan, 6th of October, Heliopolis).
Job Title: Internship at SGBV Project (Syria Response Project)
No of Positions: 2
Department: Women’s Rights
Working Hours: 9:00 To 5:00
Contract Duration: 6 Months ( till December 2015)
Responsibilities:
1- Hold the responsibility of responding to CARE helpline
2- Conduct field activities and visits in above mentioned areas
3- Monitor the field work with project staff
4- Assist during field activities in distributing breaks, ensure attendance sheets are filled, and report back on visit.
5- Write reports and meeting minutes as well as translation
6- Any other duties may be assigned
Qualifications:
1- 0/2 year experience in project coordination in the development field
2- Education Background: Social Studies, Political Science, Gender and Women Studies or any other related fields
3- Ability to translate from English to Arabic and vice versa
4- Ability to work under pressure and multi-task person
5- Having basic background on SGBV response is an asset
